From the minute you are welcomed into the Fairwinds family, you can expect exceptional levels of care delivered to you in a safe, warm and respectful environment. With one of the highest staff-to-patient ratios in the industry, our eating disorders treatment team is dedicated to helping your family achieve a full, lasting recovery.
After a comprehensive psychiatric, medical and family dynamic evaluation, we will work with you to customize an eating disorders treatment plan for anorexia, bulimia, or co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders, if necessary. Research indicates that approximately 25 % of eating disorders clients abuse or are dependent on drugs or alcohol. As a leader in dual diagnosis treatment services for co-occurring disorders, we can successfully meet your individual treatment needs.
A Multi-Disciplinary Team Approach
Once your eating disorders treatment plan is established, our multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, therapists, nursing professionals, a registered dietician, an art therapist and a primary care physician will work diligently and patiently with you to achieve positive results. By utilizing a variety of highly qualified specialists, we provide a strong support network and a structured environment that is essential to recovery.
Our treatment team will meet weekly with the medical director to provide a report on your progress. This is the time for each clinician to share pertinent information regarding your individual treatment plan. You and your family may also be involved in these meetings. As the leader of your treatment team, the medical director will:
- Lead the team in assessing major problems;
- Monitor and treat physiological problems;
- Utilize psychotherapy techniques to assist the client in reintegrating the mind-body dichotomy;
- Provide periodic progress reports to the family, including family therapy;
- Determine the need for psychotropic medications;
- Determine the need for further assistance by other medical specialists; and
- Modify the Level System as appropriate in consultation with the remainder of the treatment team.
Some of our programs include:
- Didactic therapy – psychological, physiological and nutritional
- Focus groups – process and cognitive behavioral
- Experiential groups – role-play and art therapy
- Individual therapy – mind and body reconnection
- Family therapy – communication, boundaries and family education
- Nutritional counseling and education
