The mission of our residential eating disorders program is to provide quality treatment that is sufficient in length to provide clients with the tools necessary to achieve a growing and lasting recovery. At Fairwinds, we recognize that every client is unique, and some individuals may require longer, more intensive anorexia treatment or bulimia treatment.
In fact, research indicates more positive outcomes from eating disorders treatment when clients remain in treatment until they have relinquished the anorexia and bulimia hallmark behaviors including starvation and/or binge/purge cycles and are able to achieve a normal weight. No matter how long it takes, our eating disorders treatment team will work diligently and patiently with you to reach these goals:
- Reintegrate the mind and body.
- Restore a healthy body weight and treat physiological problems.
- Treat the underlying physiological problems resulting from starvation, binge-eating or purging.
- Treat the co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders that may accompany the eating disorder.
- Normalize eating patterns and behaviors.
- Reframe cognitive and body image distortions.
- Engage the family in cooperation and support.
- Reintegrate the client back into the community.
- Create a structured aftercare program and plan to prevent eating disorder relapse.
